The Offering
Self Cycle is an integration of “parts work,” an important component of Internal Family Systems therapy, and cycling. Each virtual workshop is approximately 2 hours long and is offered online in real time.
The Workshop has Three Parts:
Bilateral Stimulation: Engage in aerobic exercise that works both sides of your body, activating your brain in unique ways. This can be achieved through various forms of aerobic exercise, not limited to cycling. Your instructor, trained in both movement and mental health counseling, will guide you through 30 minutes of bilateral stimulation with strength, endurance, and recovery phases.
Music serves as a valuable tool for motivation, inspiration, and healing. A curated playlist will assist you in setting intentions, exploring activating themes, and capturing thoughts and affirmations while connecting to your body and mind.
Only this portion of the remote session is recorded, and guided bilateral stimulation sections will be available for attendees to revisit.
Journaling: After engaging in bilateral movement to activate the body and mind, take 10-15 minutes for silent reflection and journaling on the emotions that arose during the exercise.
Healing Options: Participants have flexibility in their post-exercise experience. They can choose to:
Join the Healing Circle: All participants can return for a facilitated group discussion on Zoom. Attendance is optional and limited to 8 people to ensure an intimate space for connection and sharing.
1:1 Psychotherapy: Access Marcia individually for a personalized session.
Independent Journaling: Take your reflections to your own therapist if you prefer not to engage with our facilitator.
While movement remains a key component of Self Cycle, the focus has evolved beyond traditional cycling, viewing it as a tool to ground participants in their bodies and activate parts of the brain. All bodies are welcome and encouraged to attend.
